Caliente Mackinaw Island Fudge - "Mackinaw"
Meet Mackinaw! I adore this little black bi puppy, he comes to us from Caliente Miniature American Shepherds in New Mexico and we are really looking forward to his potential as a versatility stud. He has a fantastic pedigree of some fantastic Aussie herding lines including H Cross, Slash V, and Starstuff as well as AKC Champions from Kickinauss; Mackinaw absolutely adores people and is a true wiggley-butt puppy, he loves to play and has a lot of focus and drive. When I am walking around the farm and the house, he is my shadow and keeps a close on me too when we are all out playing outside. After spending months looking for an in-size black MAS stud that is PRA and NBT clear - we decided it was time to find our own and were fortunate to find Mackinaw.
MackMack is absolutely the sweetest dog, he does give hugs and just melts like butter for affection. Take him out onto the disc field and he is all business and he is with you 110%. Mackinaw does a phenomenal job tracking discs, and has nicely balanced jumps in air to catch his discs. We have shown him a few times in conformation - he has gorgeous side gait and stack, but its really not his cup of tea but he tries his best for us anyways.
Mackinaw measures right at 16" at 2 years old and has amazing muscle tone.
Our goals for Mackinaw are conformation, disc, FastCAT, herding, barn hunt, and definitely dock diving. We also learned this spring, that Mack is a big fan of the water and swimming in our pond.

Disc
Mackinaw is a blast to play disc with, he has the intensity that you would expect from working lines and all the nimbleness and body-intelligence you expect from a Mini American Shepherd. He is doing well at catching both rollers and air throws. He has begun competing in UpDog disc events, he is a wonderful partner in disc and tracks wonderfully!

FastCAT & Coursing
Mackinaw entered into his first FastCAT trial at the Wilmington, OH FastCAT Invitational in October, 2024 and quickly got the idea of the game.
2025 - Mackinaw finished the year ranked #10 in Miniature American Shepherds with 27.43mph
Mackinaw really got into the fun of coursing and earned his Coursing ability title.

Dock Diving
Mackinaw started jumping off the dock and competing at NADD events in 2025, earning his DN and building his confidence to jump further.
Herding

Mackinaw has taken several herding lessons, including with Mindy of Latigo Farms! Mindy has Tux, who is Mackinaw's grandsire and he has been an important influence on Miniature American Shepherds working and performance lines.

Standing at Stud $1750
Mackinaw is available as a stud to approved females that have completed their health testing and have a current negative Brucellosis. Mackinaw lives in Michigan, but he does also visit with friends around the country to compete in sports in Spring/Summer 2025 he will be in the Central US with Mercedes & Heather in the Oklahoma/Arkansas area competing in summer sports with the best dog sports friends!

Mackinaw has sired a few litters - his first litter has puppies training in agility & therapy work within schools. His second litter with Peach, who we co-own with Trilo miniature American Shepherds from our Ambrosia & Tyrion litter had all four puppies join sport/performance homes: they are training in agility, trick/stunt, disc, rally, and anything else that sparks their interest, one puppy from that litter named Lazlo is a co-own and he will remain intact as a stud prospect.
