Santo is our co-own male from the November 2020 Ambrosia x Newton litter; Santo is a stunning dark mahogany red and he is the center of Maddie's world, he is an attentive dog and enjoys meeting new people, he has tried a variety of sports and he is quick to learn new tasks and enjoys training. He can be a bit sensitive to environmental pressure in events such as Rally, but does very well in sports that have a different type of pressure. Santo has competed and trained in Disc, Scentwork, FastCAT, Rally, Agility, Herding; he is currently focusing on Disc, Scentwork, and FastCAT as his favorites.

Disc
Santo entered his first UpDog competition in April 2021, and took to disc right away. He is quick and precise with his catches, and adores the crossover games in UpDog. By December of 2021, Maddie and Santo earned enough points to compete at UpDif 2022 down in Kentucky. He handled the stress and chaos of the environment well, and stayed engaged during his rounds. After returning from Nationals, we decided to take a break from disc to pursue other sports but plan on picking it up again in the future. FastCAT
FastCAT has to be Santo true love, he was hooked from his first event. He is cool, calm, and collected until he hears the words "Tally-ho", then it's game on. Santo entered his first event in May 2022, and his first weekend out he ran 26.06 mph, which is his personal best, and was 2 pts shy of his BCAT. In October 2022 he earned his DCAT with the Great Lakes Miniature American Shepherd Club, and finished the year sitting at #35 for fastest MAS. We can't wait to see what the 2025 season brings!

Rally
Santo has been training in Rally since November 2021, after the first 6 week session he was hooked. He seems to enjoy the teamwork aspect of that Rally brings. He entered his first Rally Trial in September 2022, and earned 2 legs towards his RN title, with a score of 82 points and 91 points + 4th place. His goals for 2023 are to earn his RN and continue working towards higher Rally Titles.

Agility
Not long after starting Rally, Santo took his first Agility class and has excelled in training ever since. He is proving to be a quick and speedy team mate. He is getting ready to make his debut in UKI Speedstakes at the beginning of 2023, and we are so excited to see what he accomplishes!

During the winter in 2023, Santo started training in AKC Scent Work. He naturally showed intense interest in the sport and entered into his first trial this spring. He cleared his search with a time of 21.72 seconds, earning him a 1st place. He earned his SIN title a month later. We are very excited to see where his nose will take him.
